ISUFT March 2013 Newsletter
Dear ISUFT Members,
This is the first newsletter of 2013 from ISUFT. I hope this year we have more and better news on underground freight transport. In the Netherlands, we do our best to get underground logistics on the agenda. I held three presentations at the seaports in the Netherlands and one presentation for third year students on logistics. Also we organised with BIG a mini-conference at the INFRATECH fair in January 2013. Interesting and challenging but it is very hard to transform our efforts into projects. This year we hope to have a high level meeting with captains of industry. Hopefully this effort will pay off. Also it is time to prepare an ISUFT conference or meeting at the end of this year or the beginning of this year. I look forward to hear from you on this idea!
NSFC and NOW proposal
As member of the civil engineering faculty of Delft University of Technology I prepared together with Prof. dr. Chen Zhilong and Dr. Guo Dongjun a research proposal for NSFC and NOW (the Dutch NSF) on underground freight transport in metropolitan areas.
Unfortunately we did not get a multiyear budget for three phd’s. The reviews were good, but we got some strong competition from other research groups.
