With the coming year, the ACUUS will be at a turning point in its existence. Since our official inauguration in 1997, our non-profit international organization has been established as a leading organization in the promotion of the sustainable use and development of urban underground space.
We are now facing the challenge of building a much stronger network of experts involved in the underground space, and able to achieve a greater positive impact in the way our cities and developers are using and developing this not enough known space.
Therefore, we invite you to join ACUUS and add your voice to ours. We need the support of professionals and scholars, but also organizations, institutions and firms that are aware that the urban underground space is a part of the legacy to the next generations. By promoting a responsive planning of the urban underground space we are joining the international community interests regarding the development of sustainable cities.
The 11th ACUUS Conference: ¡°Underground Space: Expanding the Frontiers¡± will be held in Athens in September 2007. The 4-day symposium aims not only at strengthening and promoting the scientific knowledge but also at bringing closer engineers, architects, policy planners and decision makers, in a pursue to bridge the gap between them and adopt common policies that will allow a faster adaptation of our goals to the underground space development.
You will find here an admission form for 2007 that you can transmit by mail, fax or e-mail. The membership of ACUUS is open to international, national and local associations; governmental agencies; private firms and public entities, like cities and local governments, interested in promoting the objectives of the ACUUS.
We sincerely hope that you will consider becoming a member of our organization in 2007 and joining us in Athens next year.
